Eastern Lowland Gorilla's Habitat
Environmental Conditions
Grauer's gorillas inhabit dense, tropical lowland and montane forests. These forests are characterized by high humidity, substantial annual rainfall, and a stable warm climate. The altitudes at which they can be found range from 600 to 2,900 meters above sea level.
Ecological Niche
Grauer's gorillas are herbivorous and primarily feed on a variety of plant materials, including leaves, stems, and fruits. They play a crucial role in their ecosystem by aiding in seed dispersal and maintaining the health of the forest environment. Their social structure is typically composed of groups led by a dominant silverback male, with females, offspring, and sometimes other males.
